4 things to know as we pioneer YWAM Ships Mazatlan

Over the years, it seems like we've had all kinds of roles at YWAM Mazatlan. Over the last 5 years or so there has been this common theme that God has been speaking to us and we've just been waiting for the green light from God to take it on. We're happy to announce that, God has given us the green light and we'll soon be launching YWAM Ships Mazatlan! Last year we presented the vision to our leaders, then the leadership team processed this vision and we took it to the staff who wholeheartedly embraced the vision.

So here are 4 things to know as we begin to pioneer YWAM Ships Mazatlan.

1) This is God's dream for YWAM Mazatlan

For many years now, God has been speaking about the potential of ships in Mazatlan, but it just seemed like a dream until one day it wasn't. This is something that God spoke and as a base we have responded to it and embraced it wholeheartedly. Mazatlan is known as the "Pearl of the Pacific" and the "Gateway to Mexico" and we believe that maritime missions has always been a part of the plan.

2) We'll be leading the ministry

God's been speaking to us about YWAM Ships and maritime missions for a number of years now, so we presented the vision to our leaders here and we have been released to lead this ministry. We are excited about the vision and how it can impact not just the locations internationally that we will send the ship to, but also for what God wants to do in the nation of Mexico and the port of Mazatlan.

3) The Ebio's and the M/V Amazing Grace

Around August of last year as we were processing with our leaders Brent and Heather, and an email came through from a friend and YWAM Ships leader who said he knew a couple that has a ship and is interested in joining a YWAM Ships location. That was our introduction to Zeus and Charlotte Ebio and the M/V Amazing Grace. The short version of the story is that 13 years ago God spoke to the Ebio's about purchasing a ship to use for maritime missions, so they sold their home, bought the ship and have lived on it ever since. It wasn't until their daughter went to YWAM Ships Kona last year that God gave them a plan... to join YWAM Ships. What is unique about the Ebio's and the M/V Amazing Grace is YWAM Ships Mazatlan is not going out to buy this vessel, nor are the owners loaning the ship to us, but Zeus and Charlotte are giving up their careers, going to do a DTS and bringing the M/V Amazing Grace to YWAM Mazatlan with them as they go into full time missions. Their story is inspiring and we'll be sharing more about them later.

4) The Pacific Rim

At the beginning of 2015 our leadership team at YWAM Mazatlan gathered for a day of looking at vision for the future. During this time, a very key focus was presented that has a major impact for YWAM Ships Mazatlan and where we send our DTS outreach teams. That key focus is the Pacific Rim. For those of us from the Pacific, we are very familiar with the term, but if you are not familiar with the term, the Pacific Rim encompasses every nation in the Pacific Ocean. Parts of Asia, Polynesia, Melanesia, Central, South and North America, and so much more.

So there you have it, YWAM Ships Mazatlan is on the move. Later in the Spring we are going to do a scouting trip to find out where we will be focusing our ministry efforts first and hopefully by January 2016 the M/V Amazing Grace will be in Mazatlan ready to go!

What do you think about the vision of YWAM Ships Mazatlan? Are you interested in getting involved or do you know someone that might be? We'd love to hear from you in the comments below.
